Daniel H. Brown, age 89, passed away Thursday, December 12th with his family by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Inez Jarrard Brown and Pope Brown; his wife of 55 years, Mary Virginia Moore Brown; and his three sisters; Mildred Tyndle, Frances Griffin, and Hilda Rollins. He is survived by his wife, Wilma Coleman Brown; children; Dianna Brown Murphree (Melvin,) Kay Brown Cole (Don,) and Daniel Harvey Brown II (Julia,) five grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. He was a graduate of Jones Valley High School, class of 1943 and a longtime supporter of the band-boosters and PTA. After graduation he was inducted into the Army and served with honor in the European theatre with the 36th Infantry Division during World War II. He was a wood pattern maker at TCI for 19 years, then went on to open his own pattern business. He ended his career at age 70 at Citation Foundry in Bessemer. He was a member of Powderly Baptist Church teaching Sunday school and leading the Royal Ambassadors youth group. Moving to Bessemer, he became a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church. He was a member of Civitans International and a lifetime fan of Alabama football. He and Virginia were round and square dancers and had friends all over the country from their love of dancing. He was longtime member of the VFW Post #668, dancing there every Saturday night for many years. He was a sweet, generous man who will be missed by many. Services will be held at Currie-Jefferson Memorial Funeral Home, Hoover, Monday December 16th. Visitation 10 – 11 A.M. Funeral service at 11 A.M. Interment will follow at the Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo.
