passed on to heaven on August 24, 2009 at 84 years of age. He was first son of a Church of God minister. Comer participated in his Florida high school band and football teams and joined the Navy for World War II. He served in the Philippines on Navy planes as co-pilot and gunners mate. Following the war, Comer joined his parent’s church in Clinton, Illinois and bought himself a two seater airplane. Comer worked his way through college and finished at the University of Illinois and Bradley University. Comer’s work with national agricultural companies lead him to positions in Illinois, Minnesota and Wisconsin and finally as Vice President to Kansas City. He was preceded in death by his parents, Otelette and Commer W. Kerce; and a grandson, Brandon Weaver. Comer is survived by his beloved wife of 33 years, Sue Kerce; daughters, Lyn Kerce of MN, Carol Smith (John) of KS, Pam Ash (Eddie), Donna Weaver of Birmingham and Anne Evans (Dwight) of Atlanta; a son, James Weaver (Diane) of Westover; a brother, Mark Kerce (Monika) of CA; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends on Thursday, August 27, 2009, from 10-11 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 11 AM in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Donations may be given to your favorite charity.
