Clyde Wood

Clyde Harry Wood (85) passed away on September 20, 2016 in Birmingham, AL after a year-long battle with cancer. He was born April 30, 1931 in Birmingham , Alabama. His parents were Roy Clyde Wood and Margaret Falls Smith. His "Mama", grandmother Ella Nora Falls, and in-laws Raymond and Lizzie McLaughlin, were always special in his life. He was a veteran of the U S Navy, an Auburn University Electrical Engineering graduate, and proud employee and executive of Alabama Power Co for over 40 years.

Mr. Wood is survived by his wife of 66 years, Carolyn McLaughlin Wood; sons Larry Clyde Wood, Mark Joseph Wood (Judy); granddaughters Emily Wood Traylor (Tommy), Elizabeth Wood Covington (Michael); brother Clarence Smith (Brenda); and many friends and neighbors.

The family wishes to thank Dr. Harold Simon and the team at Optum Hospice at St Martin's in the Pines for their compassionate care.

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. - noon on Friday, September 23, 2016 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hoover.

In lieu of flowers, a donation may be made to an animal loving or children's loving organization.
