of Birmingham, passed away on Monday, February 18, 2008 at the age of 82. He was a native of Aulander, NC. Mr. Mitchell served in the US Navy from 1944-1946 and was an electrical engineer salesman with General Electric for 25 years. He was an active member in his church, the Cathedral Church of the Advent where he was part of the radio program and was a member of the Seniors group. Mr. Mitchell was a member of the Hoover Lions Club and was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Winifred S. Mitchell; his son, Paul Clingman Mitchell of Summerville, SC.; his daughters, Karen Mitchell Barth of Largo FL and Laura Mitchell Voorhies of Huntsville, AL; seven grandchildren, Warren Amos, Jared Amos, Tommy Voorhies Jr., Jennifer Voorhies, John Mitchell, Paul Mitchell, William Mitchell and great granddaughter, Jennavieve Amos. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 1, 2008 at 11:00 a.m. at the Cathedral Church of the Advent with the Rev. Cannon Joseph Warren officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in the Clingman Commons of the Church.
