passed away April 7, 2007 in his home in Hoover after an illness with cancer. Mr. Tucker, 72, was born in Meridian, Mississippi to Mr. & Mrs. Clifton R. Tucker, Sr. He graduated from the University of Mississippi with degrees in History and Naval Science and was commissioned into the United States Navy, where served his country in that capacity. After his military service, he worked with the Social Security Administration and retired in 2006 after 48 years of federal service. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Clifton R. Tucker, III. Cliff was greatly loved by his family. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Betty Tucker; two sons, Clyde and his wife, Marie, of Hoover, and Clark and his wife, Liz, of Vestavia Hills; and five grandchildren, Taylor Ross, Victoria Lauren, Blaine Michael, Savannah Marie and Abbey Jane Tucker. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, April 11, 2007, from 1-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow in the funeral home chapel at 2 PM, with Dr. Buddy Gray and Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
