Clifford Custred

Clifford Alexander Custred, 82, of Hoover passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, September 14, 2017. Clifford was born in Goodsprings, Alabama, on January 08, 1935. He graduated from Martin High School in Goodsprings, Alabama, before joining Alabama Power Company in 1955, where he retired after 35 years of service. He also served in the Alabama National Guard for 25 years retiring at the rank of Captain. After retirement he and his wife of 64 years, Nancy, traveled extensively around the US and abroad. They were both avid square and round dancers. Clifford loved the outdoors, with fishing being one of his favorite hobbies. Playing with and spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren was one of his greatest pleasures. He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Dessare Custred, a grandaughter, Monica Custred and a sister, Diane Hice.

He is survived by his wife, Nancy Custred; sons, Mark Custred (Theresa) and Mitchell Custred (Christina); a daughter, Marian Copus (Larry); grandchildren, Brad Custred (Aubrie), Jason Copus (Abbie), Morgan Kelley (Steven), Murray Custred, and Stephanie Grissom (Peyton); great grandchildren, Noah and Piper Custred, Paul, John Murphy and Charlie Copus, Kypton and Nash Kelley; and brothers, Wayne Custred (Wandell); Joe Custred (Myra) and Mike Custred (Susan).

The family will receive friends on Monday, September 18, 2017 from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Service will follow at 2:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Jim Profetto officiating.
