Clara Mcgaughy

MCGAUGHY, CLARA M. NIVENS Clara was born April 25, 1928 and died September 18, 2012. She grew up in Harpersville, Alabama and graduated from Vincent High School in 1946. She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Buna Melton; husband, John Nivens; and son, Stephen Nivens. Survivors are husband of 61 years, James Leonard McGaughy; son, Richard Nivens (Keli); brother, John Melton (Sarah); sister, Glenda Chambless (Jim); and brother-in-law, Bernie McGaughy (Brenda); grandchildren, Meredith Allred (Shannon); Melissa Schofield (Chris); Morgan Nivens (Amanda), and Lilly Grace Nivens; great grandchildren, Madeline Allred, Natalie Allred, Kaleb Blackburn, Gabriel Nivens, Chloe Nivens and numerous nieces and nephews. Clara retired from Moore-Handley after more than thirty years of service. She and Leonard were charter members of Lakeside Baptist Church. Homewood, AL was home for more than fifty years, where she was a member of Dawson Memorial Baptist Church. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister and aunt. Clara will be greatly missed by family, friends, and neighbors. A memorial service will be held at Currie Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, AL at 11am, Friday, Sept. 21st. A private graveside service will follow at Harpersville Cemetery.
