Clara Johnson

Mrs. Clara Gene Johnson, of Alabaster, passed away on Friday, November 28, 2014 at the age of 90. She attended Elyton Grammar School and West End High School. She was a member of The Club and The Sophisticates. Molly was a member of several fraternal dance clubs, including Jack O Hearts and Debonairs because of her love of dancing. She was a member of Southminster Presbyterian Church in Vestavia. Molly would have been a great great grandmother in June of 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents, Coy and Eunice Porter.
She is survived by her husband of 72 years, George R. Johnson; a son, George R. Johnson, Jr. (Betty Lou); a daughter, Gene Goodwyn (John); 6 grandchildren, Jeff Johnson (Vicky), Holly Turner (Robin), John Goodwyn (Melissa), Erik Johnson (Ginger), Melissa Sizemore (Jeff) and Leif Johnson (Rachel); 9 great grandchildren; a brother, William Earl Porter; a sister, Frances Logan; and many nieces and nephews.
Graveside service will be on Monday, December 1, 2014 at 1 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South in Hoover with Dr. Joe Slane officiating. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Southminster Presbyterian Church in Vestavia or to the charity of your choice.
