Charles (Chuck) Dwain Barber was born to Zeno and LaVern Barber on January 4, 1946 in Cape Girardeau, Missouri. He spent his early years in Perryville, Missouri before moving to Highland, Illinois. On August 12, 1967, he was united in marriage to Carol Ann Meyer, his high school sweetheart. Throughout their marriage, they lived in various locations across the country, to include Missouri, Illinois, Kansas, Colorado, Texas, Virginia, before finally settling in Birmingham, Alabama. Chuck served his country in the United States Air Force between the years of 1969 and 1975. Following his time in service, he entered the world of business. His charisma and friendly personality led him to a successful career in sales. This career included owning his own wholesale distribution company (TriStar Sales). Chuck was an active member of the Ryan Winslow American Legion Post 911 of Hoover, Alabama. He volunteered much of his time during retirement towards raising funds to help wounded and disabled Veterans. However, Chuck was happiest when he was surrounded by his family, his cats (with maybe a raccoon and opossum or two), Alabama football, and, especially, when he was with the three boys that called him Paw Paw.
