age 81, died at his home in Birmingham on Friday, March 31, 2006, with his wife of 63 years, Mary Nell Wyatt at his side. Mr. Wyatt was born September 27, 1924, in Birmingham, Alabama to the late Rady and Mary Lee McIntosh Wyatt. Following graduation from Jones Valley High School, Mr. Wyatt served in General George Patton's Third Army, 35th Infantry Division, and fought in the Battle of the Bulge. Following World War II, Mr. Wyatt joined the Birmingham Police Department and served for 35 years. He was affectionately known as "Pappy" by his fellow members in the Evidence Unit in which he served. After his retirement in 1982, he joined the staff of Judge Mike McCormick and later Judge Robert Cahill as bailiff. Mr. Wyatt was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church in the Care Sunday School Class, the Veterans of the Battle of the Bulge, and the Retired Birmingham Law Enforcement Association. He was an avid golfer at Chace Lake Country Club. He also spent many happy years with his son David working with the Boy Scouts. Mr. Wyatt is survived by his beloved wife, Mary Nell; son David R .Wyatt; daughter Deborah Wyatt Ford; son-in-law Eric W. Ford and granddaughter Camille Wyatt Ford. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by an infant brother, Howard. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 3, from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 pm in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Chris Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow at Valhalla Cemetery.
