Charles Smith, Jr

of Hoover, passed away on Thursday, March 30, 2006, at the age of 63. He was employed by BellSouth for the past 40 years. Mr. Smith was a former police officer and sheriff's deputy in New Albany, IN. He was a member of Hunter Street Baptist Church and was an active member of the Dulaney/Phillips Sunday School Class and the Hunter Street Singles Group. He had a big heart and was a loving friend to all who knew him. He is survived by a son: Scott Eric Smith of Hoover; two nephews and one niece; two sisters; Donna Smith Rice of Louisville, KY and Leigh Gaines Brooks of Corydon, IN. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 31, 2006, from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be on Saturday, April 1, 2006, at 2:00 p.m. at Hunter Street Baptist Church, with Dr. Buddy Gray officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
