Charles Sain

November 13, 1949 — May 20, 2021

Charles Randolph (Randy) Sain, affectionately known as Papa, was born November 13, 1949 to Charles (Hack) and Marie Sain in Texarkana, TX. He was their first born of three children. He graduated from Lyman Ward Military Academy in May 1968. He attended Jacksonville State University and The University of Alabama. Randy served in the Alabama Air National Guard Reserve Unit. He married Linda Mallory on June 25, 1971.

He is survived by his wife Linda Sain, sister Betsy Stockdale and sister and brother-in-law, Anne and Clayton Hays. In addition, Randy is also survived by his sons and daughters-in-laws; Jason and Tracey Sain, Jeremy and Kristin Sain, Derek and Ashley Sain. He is also survived by ten granddaughters: Grayson, Bailey, Alli, Caroline, Charley, Mallory, Elizabeth, Kaydence, Katherine, and Madison, and several nephews and nieces.

Randy was a member of Church of the Highlands. He was involved in several para church ministries including: World Changers, Prison Ministry, Young Business Leaders of Birmingham, and Christian Service Mission.

Randy started in the work force as a foreman for Moss Thornton Construction Company. He worked his way up to project management and estimating. He then began to work for Sain Associates. These two men built a thriving engineering company that remains in existence today. He became president of Sain Associates in 1997 while Hack served as CEO. Once he retired from the company, he wanted to give back by using his spiritual gift of serving. He began to work for Christian Service Mission in 2011, where he built and repaired homes for the underprivileged.

Randy’s top achievement would be his legacy of his three sons. His most joyous times were with Linda and family on Lake Martin boating and grilling his famous ribs.

He was very much the “man.” He was larger than life, the person you wanted to have by your side and the one who made everyone laugh. In his forties, Randy rededicated his life to Christ. The writings of John Eldridge influenced his desire to be a strong man in Christ. He sought Christ every day.
