Chap. Madinger

Chap. Paul Lewis Madinger, of Pelham, passed away on Monday, November 22, 2010, at the age of 88. He was born in Wathena, KS and lived in Indianapolis, IN for 35 years before moving to Birmingham. He was a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School, Butler University and Christian Theological Seminary. He was a WWII veteran, serving in the Army Air Corp. He was pastor of Tuxedo Park Baptist Church in Indianapolis and chaplain at Veterans Administration Hospital in Birmingham. He was preceded in death by sons, Garry Allison and David Allan. He is survived by his loving wife of 68 years, Dorothy M. Cook Madinger; a son, Paul (Linda) Madinger, II, of Hoover; 2 daughters, Jane Hoeppner, of Bloomington, IN, and Barbara (Dr. Charles) Sherman, of Bay Minette, AL; 8 grandchildren; 7 great grandchildren; a brother, Allison B. Madinger, of Chandler, AZ; and a host of relatives and friends. The family will receive friends on Saturday, November 27, 2010, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Liberty Church, Old Rocky Ridge Rd. in Hoover. A celebration of his life will follow at 11 a.m. at the church with Rev. Bruce Terry officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Liberty Church Youth Program, 2732 Old Rocky Ridge Rd., Birmingham, AL 35216.
