Catherine (Cat) Minnie Word was born May 13, 1960 in Hueytown Alabama. Musically inclined from an early age, she played in the Hueytown High School band and was accompanist for their show choir. She played French horn in the Million Dollar Band at the University of Alabama, of which she was an avid fan. After attaining her degree in Nursing from The University of Alabama, where she was an active member of the Baptist Student Union, Catherine moved on to medical sales, and eventually to pharmaceutical sales where she became District Sales Manager at AstraZenca Pharmaceuticals. Known for her glowing personality and hilarious predicaments, Catherine's friend groups included Bama Supper Club, Birthday Club as well as various Bible study groups and women's organizations. Cat was an avid reader, consummate hostess, possessed impeccable interior design taste as well as a keen appreciation for music, art, theater and travel. She also had a passion for fashion and gardening. Catherine is survived by her mother, Jessie Word of Pelham and long-time boyfriend Henry Burt of Tuscaloosa and their beloved Miniature Schnauzers, Charlie and Gracie, lovingly referred to as "The Girls". She was preceded in death by her father, Bob Word. Catherine was a member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church, where she sang in the choir and served as keyboard accompanist. Cat will be sorely missed by her family as well as her chosen family and a score of coworkers, friends and neighbors.
