Mrs. Carolyn L. Jordan, of Birmingham, AL, passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2015, at the age of 83.
Greatly loved by her family and by her many friends across all walks of life, Carolyn was a joyous soul, a sweet Texas girl with a wry sense of humor, a progressive force of nature, and a beautiful woman.
Her family was the center of her life and she the center of theirs. She will live forever in the hearts and minds of her children, Michael, Carol and Bradley, and her grandchildren Lara, Nico and Emil. The love of her life was her husband Irwin Jordan. Married in Houston, TX in 1953, they were inseparable for thirty-three years, and, though heartbroken with his loss in 1986, their love sustained her undimmed and unabated for the next twenty-nine years.
She also loved the Presbyterian Church USA and the P.E.O. In her many leadership roles in these organizations, she was a fierce advocate for education, for the empowerment of women, and for civil rights.
A memorial celebration of her life will be held Sunday, July 12, 2015, at 3 PM at Southminster Presbyterian Church of Birmingham led by Dr. Joe Slane. A reception will immediately follow.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Southminster
Presbyterian Church of Birmingham, AL, Presbyterian Women Ministries, or the
P.E.O. Scholar Award, www.peointernational.org.
