RODGERS, CAROL ROSENTRETER, of Vestavia Hills, died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 16, 2009, at the age of 79. Carol was born on July 15, 1930, in New Orleans, LA. She was a retired school teacher and a member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church, Joy Faith Circle, Panorama Pines Garden Club, and the Southeastern Louisiana University Alumni Association. She was preceded in death by her parents, George W. and Irma Cannon Rosentreter. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Marshall Reid Rodgers; daughter, Kathryn R. Eddy (Donald); son, Marshall R. Rodgers, Jr. (Sabra); five grandchildren, Bryan Litten (Natalie), Paul Litten, Jr. (Sara), Sara Litten, Chandler Rodgers, and Cannon Rodgers; sisters, Thelma Hammons (Rett), Linda McGuire (Jerry); brother, George C. Rosentreter (June); and five nephews and two nieces. A memorial service officiated by Reid Crotty celebrating Carol’s life, will be held Tuesday, July 21, 2009, at Bluff Park United Methodist Church at 11:00 AM, with visitation preceding at 10:00 AM. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that donations be made to the Bluff Park UMC Building or Music Funds.
