Carl Brock

Carl Larry Brock, age 73, of Vestavia Hills passed away unexpectedly, December 15, 2015. He was married to his loving wife, Glenda Sandlin Brock, for 53 years. The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on December 18, 2015 at Metropolitan Church of God. Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Funeral at 1 p.m. and burial service to follow. In lieu of flowers, donations may be given to Metropolitan Church of God's Love in Action Ministry.
Larry is survived by siblings, Donald Brock (Sharon); Eloise Coffman (late husband Bill); Anthony Brock (Karen); and sister-in-law Sherrie Brock (late husband Jackie). He is preceded in death by his parents, Carl & Vera Brock, and brother, Jackie Brock.
Larry owned and operated Brock Contracting Company, a residential construction finish and trim business for 40 years. He served his country in the US Armed Forces during the Vietnam conflict from 1966 to 1968. Larry was an avid outdoorsman. He loved hunting and fishing, and was an active member of Lee Haven Hunting Club. Larry, alongside his wife Glenda, were members of Metropolitan Church of God where he served faithfully for 36 years. When Larry wasn't in the woods he spent much of his free time helping to provide food and clothing for those in need through the Love in Action ministry. He had a true servant's heart.
Larry also had a heart for children. There wasn't a child who didn't love "Uncle" Larry. He used his master carpenter skills to build many sets for the children and adult ministry's alike. If you could imagine it, he could build it. Behind the scenes is where Larry shined the brightest.
Larry's life made a difference.
