Mr. Bobby Jones Phifer, of Pleasant Grove, died on Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at the age of 81. "Bob" graduated from Oakman High School in 1951 and was an Army Veteran of the Korean War. He married his high school sweetheart, Elsie Parsons, on April 26, 1953. Bob & Elsie lived in Midfield for 35 years, where he was active in Little League Baseball, Athletic and Band Boosters, The Lion’s Club, and City Council. He retired from Alabama Gas Corp. with over 30 years of service. He was currently working as the Building Inspector for the City of Midfield. Bob was an active member at Palisades Church of Christ in Homewood, where he served as a Deacon. He is survived by wife of 60 years, Elsie Phifer, sons: Terry Phifer (Pam) of Hoover, Tracy Phifer (Cindy) of Trussville; grandchildren: Daniel Phifer (Jessica) of Huntsville, Adam Phifer (Ashley Jeter) of Pelham, Chanlee Phifer (Jeffrey Black) of Moody; great grandson: Indiana Black; and honorary granddaughter: Hollen Ayers of Pensacola, FL. He is also survived by his brother, Harold Phifer (Lois) of Parrish and sisters, Sue Stroud of Gainesville, FL and Marguerite Chadwick of Columbus, GA. Visitation will be on Friday, April 5, 2013, from 9:30-11:30 AM with funeral services and burial following at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Services will be conducted by Ray Brunner and Glenn Van Zandt.
