Alabama native and a Bessemer son, Bobby Joe Franklin graduated from Bessemer High School in 1961. He was an avid sports fan and letterman in track and field. Early in life, he held jobs at a golf course and bowling alley where he would meet the love of his life in 1960. The Holiday Bowl and Fun Center united him with Virginia Ann Franklin, and they would remain together for the next 60 years.
Love and a need to prove for his love drove him to technology certifications in electronics and complex computer aided musical instruments as well as the design, installation/repair, and planning of audio sound systems. He became the very best at his trade, and this was only surpassed by the love and care he showed his family and close friends over the rest of his life.
His interest and life’s passion included his faith in God and his plan with mankind, travel, all types of puzzles, his vegetable garden, and of course, Alabama football.
