of Hoover, passed away on Tuesday, March 10, 2009 at 10:47 AM at the age of 72. Her sons and grandchildren were with her. Bobbie was an educator in the surrounding Birmingham school system, receiving a Masters Degree in Education from UAB and Samford University. She was a tireless advocate for the advancement and learning of elementary grade children. Bobbie was diagnosed with cancer on March 1, 2007 and given 2-4 months to live. She approached her illness as she did everything in her life, with an enduring spirit to overcome whatever barriers were in her path and weathered her illness for over 2 years to the amazement of her doctors and family. Bobbie did so with the same smile and laugh that hid from her loved ones the pain she was enduring. She loved to paint and left us with many treasures on canvas in her final years. As her family, there are no words to express our feeling of loss in her passing, but are comforted in the knowledge that He will welcome her as one of His most loyal servants. She was preceded in death by her husband, George; her parents, Oliver Commodore Sims and Violet Beatrice Sims. She is survived by one sister, Janet Sims Michaels; three sons, Bart E. Irvine, Hoover, AL, Scot O. Irvine, Alabaster, AL, and Gary L. Irvine, Helena, AL; four grandchildren, Cavan, Darcy, Darian Irvine, and Payton Saucier. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 13, 2009 from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover. A graveside service will be held Saturday, March 14, 2009 at 1:00 PM at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
