Bobbie Jean Belzer

Mrs. Bobbie Jean Ehl Belzer, age 88, of Fultondale, passed away Friday evening, June 2, 2023, at her residence.

 She was born August 20, 1934, in Whitney, Alabama, a daughter of the late Jack and Laura Faye Garrett Ehl.

Bobbie was preceded in death by her husband of 63 years, Louis (Bud) Edward Belzer; sister Jessie Ellis, brothers Jack (Doc) Ehl and Jerry Ehl. Bobbie is survived by her son and daughter, Scott Belzer and Marsha Faye Wilsher (Steve, deceased); two granddaughters, Mandy Jean Wilsher Fielding (Luke) and Alexis Lee Wilsher Bennett (Matt); four great-grandchildren, Jackson Ford Fielding, Lyla Jean Bennett, Jesse Lee Bennett, and Nora Faye Bennett; one sister, Joyce Ehl; two brothers, James Ehl (Wanda), and Joe Ehl.

 Bobbie was a beloved member of the Fultondale Church of Christ where she attended for over 50 years. She retired after 34 years as an Executive Secretary of Vulcan Materials. Bobbie was known for her delicious cakes and treats, often making birthday cakes for her family and friends. Her signature Sunday chicken dish was known as “chicken-ala-Bobbie,” and her chicken and dressing was the makings of legend. She loved to use creative stamps and paper to make greeting cards to encourage those she loved dearly. She loved Mickey and Minnie Mouse and made trips to Disney World as often as her family would take her. Only her declining health could stop her from her trips to see Mickey Mouse. She was full of life and love and will be dearly missed.

Funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, June 8, 2023, at Currie-Jefferson Memorial in Hoover. Burial will follow immediately after the service.
