Mr. Pridgen, age 81, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 15, after a brief illness. Bob was born in Hacoda, Alabama on July 23, 1934. He moved to Birmingham at age 15 where he met his beloved late wife, Carol Wilbanks Pridgen. He enjoyed a long and successful career in the machine shop business, founding and operating Pridgen Machine Inc. from 1975 to 2000. Bob was a member at Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Quinnie and Sula Pridgen, brother Lelon Pridgen, and sister Idell Reynolds Powell. He is survived by his son Steely Pridgen (Cynthia) and daughters Donna White (Greg), Kathy Beard (Terrell), and Laurie Ryan (Ben); seven grandchildren, Jeremy Beard (Morgan), Josh Beard (Katie), Christi Luter (Andrew), David Largin (Veronica), Brandon Pridgen (Katie), Jack and Banks Ryan; five great-grandchildren Beau, Wyatt and Peytyn Largin, Will Luter, and James Abel Pridgen.
The family will receive friends Friday, March 18, 2016, from 12:00-2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow in the chapel at 2:00 PM with Dr. Lowell Vann officiating. Interment will be at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Donations may be made to Rocky Ridge Baptist Church.
