It is with profound sadness and much love that the family of Billy James Williams announce his peaceful passing at his home in Vestavia, Alabama on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, at the age of 89 years.
He will be lovingly remembered by his children and stepchildren, James Williams (Lisa), Karen Hills (Joe), Mark Williams (Jennifer), Mickey Johnston (Odessa), Gary Johnston (Debbi), Donna Moberg (Steve), David Johnston (Cindy), Paula Warren (Chris), and brother, Perry Williams (Charlotte). He also leaves an enduring legacy of 17 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren, and 4 great-great grandchildren.
Mr. Williams was predeceased by his loving wife, Martha; dear friend, Francis McQueen; daughter, Cheryl Sides; granddaughter, Michaelyn Owens; siblings, Sonny, Francis, Doris, Pasty; and his parents, William Williams and Mary Ella(Nerren) Williams.
Mr. Williams spent his childhood in Walker County, Alabama. Upon graduation from Dora High School in 1950 he entered military service in the United States Air Force where he served our great nation for 4 years. After coming home, he began a 35-year career with TCI (U.S. Steel Company). He was a member of Overton Church.
There will be a memorial service on Saturday, January 22, 2022, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home located at 2701 John Hawkins Parkway Hoover, Alabama. Visitation is between 10:00 and 11:00. Memorial service is 11:00 to 12:00 with graveside internment with military honors immediately following.
