Mr. Billy Wayne Turner, 46, of Irondale, was called to rest at his home in Irondale on October 2, 2018. He was March 12, 1972 to the late Billy Wayne Gray and Karen Tuner in Birmingham, Alabama. Billy Wayne confessed Christ at an early age and was baptized at Mt. Hebron Baptist Church in Irondale, Alabama, under the leadership of the late Pastor J.P. Parnell.
Billy was educated in the Birmingham School System and upon graduation from high school he was employed with Harris Transfer and Warehouse. After several years he went to work in the mortuary business where he worked for Jefferson Memorial Gardens, East in Trussville, Alabama, for 15 years and then moved to Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama where he remained until his passing. He was preceded in death by his father, Mr. Billy Wayne Gray; maternal grandparents, Mr. Horace and Mrs. Dorothy Turner; and his paternal grandparents, Mr. Wilson and Mrs. Maggie Gray.
Billy leaves to cherish his memory, his devoted wife, Irish Turner; son, Kendrick Dewayne; daughters, Trenesha, Da’Kiya, and Lindsey; granddaughter, Kamora; his mother and step-father, Karen and Woodie Means; his mother-in-law, Juanita Lindsey; sister-in-law, Kecia (Tony) Davis; step-brothers, Alando McKenzie, Derrick Means, and Demarcus Means; aunts, Maggie Turner and Vera Quinney; great aunt, Julia Dean of Pittsburg, PA ; uncles, Bruce Grant, Horace Turner, Carl Turner, and Robert Turner; close friend, Brandon Smith; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family members and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-7 PM on Wednesday, October 10, 2018, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover. The home going service will be held on Thursday, October 11, 2018, at 12 PM at Metropolitan Community Church-Woodlawn, 335 64th St. South. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South, following the service.
