age 76, of Birmingham, passed away Monday, January 21, 2008, surrounded by his loving family. Born February 16, 1931 in Birmingham, Bill was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, and brother. A life-long follower of St. Johns Episcopal Church of the Deaf, he was also affiliated with several Deaf churches in the Birmingham area: McElwain Baptist Deaf Mission, Brookhill Baptist Church-Deaf Mission, as well as St. Luke's Episcopal Church. Bill attended school at the Central Institute for the Deaf (CID) in St. Louis, MO for several years. Having a desire to learn American Sign language (ASL) he transferred to the Alabama School for the Deaf (ASD) in Talladega, AL where he met his wife-to-be and life-long companion. Bill worked for his father in the trucking industry at Howard Hall Company until the business sold and he retired. Bill knew someone everywhere he went because he never met a stranger. Bill was preceded in death by his parents and his beloved wife of 47 years, Carol Anne Doritty Hall. He is survived by his four children: Judy Hall Collins-Hoover, William H. Hall-Jacksons Gap, Debbie Hall Cox-Trussville and Chet A. Hall-Decatur. Nine grandchildren: Jason (Stephanie) Collins, Joseph (Ashley) Collins, Jordon Collins, Lil' Harold Collins, Trey (Tiffany) Hall, Krista Hall, Ashley (Jason) Stegall, Brandon Cox, Dustin Cox, Susanne Cox, Bradley Hall, Haley Hall and Katlynn Hall. Nine great-grandchildren and two brothers: Howard L. (Hetti) Hall, Jr. and James "Jimbo" (Sherry) Hall, Jr. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 23, 2008, from 5-7 PM and the funeral service will be Thursday, January 24, 2008, at 1 PM, both will be held at St. John's Episcopal Church for the Deaf with burial at Elmwood Cemetery.
