Beverly Smeltzer

, passed away on Monday, March 16, 2009 at the age of 55. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from East Tennessee State University while raising her children and working full time. Beverly devoted her life to helping others by serving many years as a social worker. She was passionate about animals and their welfare. Ocean waves and breezes Whiskers on kittens Her children & grandchildren Some of her favorite things She was preceded in death by her parents, Clarence and Lillie Mae Jones; her sister, Joyce Phipps; and her niece, Tina Phipps. She is survived by her devoted husband, Michael A. Carpick, Jr; her daughter, Stephanie Lynn Chandiwala (Hafiz); her son, Darrell Wade Smeltzer (Renee); six grandchildren, Amaan, Aneesa, Alexa, Peyton, Chad and Kristen; her brother, Jack Jones; two sisters, Nancy Stepp (Henry) and Bunny Mutter (Ray); five nephews, Gary Lynn, Stanley, Henry, Drew and Jess; and her niece, Sherry Lynn. The family will receive friends on Friday, March 20, 2009 from 9:30-11AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Highway 150, Hoover. A graveside service will follow 11AM in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South with Minister Michael Whisenant officiating.
