She was also known for her love of animals, especially dogs of whom her favorite was snowball. She was preceded in death by her mother Emma Mae Gillman, brother Luther J Gillman, and the love of her life, her husband of 14 years, Charles I. Johnson, sisters Leatha Sims Buchmann, Francis Sims Williamson, and Edna Earl Sims Lancaster. She is survived by her sister Lula Mae Gillman Morris, daughter Bridgette Mason, and a multitude of nieces and nephews. In respect of her wishes there will be no service or memorial celebration.
