Betty Lee Wood Herron

It is with great sadness that the family of Betty Lee Wood Herron announces her passing on Friday, January 11, 2019, at the age of 73. Betty Herron had many jobs at Green Valley Elementary School and had the honor of being named, “Mother of the year.” Betty volunteered for many years at the Shades Mountain Tree lot. For a great number of years she supplied the Hoover Fire Department with sweets and someone to lovingly tease. Betty also volunteered in several positions during her time at Hoover First Methodist. She is precede in death by her father, Herbert L Wood; mother, Elizabeth K Wood; and son, James L Herron.

Betty will be lovingly remembered by her husband of 53 years, James Herron; a daughter, Emily McFall; grandchildren, Austin, Elizabeth, and Matthew; her sister, Alice Griffin; brother-in-law, Clark Herron; and sister-in-law, Margaret Bish.

The family will receive friends Monday, January 14, 2019, from  12-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home in Hoover, Alabama. The service will be held in the chapel at 2 PM with Pastor Angela Teel officiating. Interment will follow the service at Forest Hill Cemetery in Birmingham, Alabama.
