Bettye Jolley

Mrs. Bettye Reese Jolley left this earth on Tuesday, November 24, 2015. Bettye was born January 27, 1930, in Bessemer, Alabama, the daughter of John Horton Reese and Pauline Acker Reese. She was a loving wife of 58 years to the love of her life Melvin Jolley, and a wonderful mother, and grandmother. She was a stay-at-home Mother to daughters Polly and Natalie and involved in all their activities. After raising her daughters, Bettye embarked on a successful career as a real estate agent and placed countless families in homes. She and Melvin retired to Ragland, Alabama and were embraced by the community. Upon Melvin’s death in 2005, Bettye returned to McCalla, surrounded by friends and family. She was a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church and was loved by all who knew her. Her generous spirit was shown by her constant nurturing of those around her. She possessed a contagious, joyful spirit and a quick wit until the end. Her signature bright red lipstick and love of hats cannot go unmentioned.
She is preceded in death by her husband Melvin William Jolley and sister Peggy Kersh. She is survived by her daughters Polly Milford and Natalie Sanders; grandsons Adam Vickers(Jacqueline), Cole Vickers (Stephanie), and Mason and Jackson Sanders.

Her life will be celebrated at Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church on Friday, November 27, 2015 with visitation from 10:00-11:30 am and the funeral service beginning at 11:30 am, with Rev. Alan Head officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
