Betty Stephens

Mrs. Betty L. Stephens, of Bessemer, AL, passed away Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the age of 85. She was a member of Eastern Valley Baptist Church. Her life revolved around rearing and teaching children and taught pre-school at Canaan Baptist Church for over 15 years. She enjoyed many good times playing cards and traveling with the Golden Girls.
She is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Leslie Ellis Stephens, and two infant children.
She is survived by three sons, Leslie G. Stephens (Carol), Scott Stephens (Jill) and Ronald E. Stephens, two daughters, Debra S. Dennis and Cindy S. Oglesby (Van), nine grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, two brothers, Bobby Langham and Billy Langham, one sister, Evelyn Chapman, several nieces, nephews, and a host of friends.
The family will receive friends Friday, May 22, 2015, from 1-2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the chapel. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South with grandchildren serving as pallbearers.
