Betty Lee Baker passed away on Monday, September 18, 2017. She was born on August 6, 1931, in Anniston, AL, to Arthur and Odette Cockrell. She was a graduate of Alabama College (University of Montevallo) Class of 1953. She was a teacher with Tarrant City and Jefferson County Schools and was employed by the Social Security Admin.

She is preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Billie Joan Bice and Ann Hamilton (Bobby); and brother, Forrest Cockrell. She is survived by her daughters, Becky Harbin (Mickey) and Jane Baker; grandchildren, Tricia Pierce, Gavin Harbin and Zac Harbin (Payton); great grandchildren, Jacob, Carter, and Claire Pierce; sister-in-law, Suzanne Cockrell; aunt, Mary Winsted; and nieces, nephews, and cousins. The family extends thanks to the following for their special love and care before and during our mother's last days: Felonia Jones, Brenda Roper, and the staff of Country Cottage, Hoover, AL; Greenbriar Skilled Nursing and New Beacon Hospice.

The family will receive friends from 5-7, Thursday, Sept. 28, 2017, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. A private family interment will take place prior to this gathering. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Amelia Center, 1513 4th Ave S, Birmingham, AL 35233.
