age 88, passed away at her home in Alabaster on Wednesday, April 11, 2007. She was born in 1918 in Homewood, Alabama. She was a long time member of Helena United Methodist Church and was a member of the Morning Glories Bible Study Group. She and her husband, Gayle, also attended Shades Crest Baptist Church for many years. They were part-time home builders for many years, and she was a Realtor for over 25 years and a member of the Million Dollar Club for several years. Mrs. Knox was one of the original members of the No Name Club and was a successful business owner. She and her family were residents of Hoover for many years. She was preceded in death by her husband of over 60 years, Woodrow Gayle (Chubby) Knox; a beloved grandson, Mark W. Crowe; two sisters, Mrs. Rose Miller Wilson (J.B) and Mrs. Della Mae Miller Stamps (William C.); a brother George H. Miller. She is survived by a daughter, Betty Jean Knox Crowe; a much loved grandson, J. Scott Crowe; a daughter-in-law, Cheryl Crowe; a step-granddaugther, Abigail Davis; two sister-in-laws, Voncil Knox (Jim) and Elsie Knox (Joe); and many special loved nieces, nephews and friends. Special love and thanks go to Mary and David Cox for their faithful devotion. The family would like to thank her special caregivers, France Moore and Linda Boswell, who became a part of the Knox family during the past four months. Also, to all the employees of New Beacon Hospice who were always there and especially to Chaplain David Deter. The family will receive friends on Monday, April 16, 2007, from 12:30 until 2:00 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, with Bro. Brad Bakane officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Donations to Rhodes College will be welcomed for a continuing remembrance of Mark W. Crowe in honor of Mrs. Knox.
