Along the way, she earned her MA and PhD degrees in Education. She was considered a mentor by many college students and pastor's wives, who benefitted from her life and teaching. Bette was a member of Glen Iris Baptist Church before moving to Lynchburg, VA to live in a memory care facility. Most importantly, she was a follower of Jesus, who devoted her life to her family and faithfully served her Lord.

A service to honor Bette and to greet the family will be held at the Bible Baptist Church of Wilton (293 Stephens Street, Montevallo, AL 35115) on March 7, 9:30 AM. A private graveside service for the family will follow at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, AL.
