of Vestavia, known to family and friends as B.B., departed this life on Easter Sunday, March 27, 2005 at the age of 90. She will be dearly missed and loved by her family and friends alike. She was the oldest of 12 children. Bernice was born October 14, 1914, and at the age of 11, accepted Christ to be the Lord of her life at Pine Grove Church. She served there as a Sunday School teacher, and the church secretary. After graduating from Perry County High School in Marion, AL, she began a partnership with her father on a poultry farm. Although she was a victim of polio, she never allowed it to interfere with her job responsibilities. In 1953, she settled in Birmingham, and was employed with the Workshop for the Blind and Handicapped in Avondale for 14 years. She also worked for Rose Manor Nursing Home as a seamstress. Her talent with needlework enabled her to enjoy her employment there, as well as her upbeat personality and encouragement of others. She is survived by five sisters, Annie Lee Greenway, Irma Hobson, Ida Mae Crocker, Neva Aiken, Sara Clements; two brothers, Gathon and Floyd Bamberg; her devoted nephew, David James Morrison; one great-niece, Adrianne Morrison Roberts; two great-nephews, Michael Brett and Matthew Wade Morrison. The family will receive friends on Tuesday March 29, 2005 at 10:00 am at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy 150, Hoover, with the celebration of her life to follow at 11:00 am in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at 3:00 pm, at her birthplace in Heiberger, AL, in the Sardis Baptist Church cemetery. Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home directing.
