Benny White

Mr. Benny Joe White, 82 of Hoover, Alabama died on June 27, 2015 at Golden Living Riverchase. Born July 8, 1932 in Alexander City, Alabama. Preceded in death by his parents James Leon Whte, Ruby Crabtree White, and brother Richard Leon White. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Shirley Thompson White and their children Gary White (Laurie), Steve White (Lisa), Jimmy White (Suzanne), and Donna White Schanbacher (Billy). He is also survived by his thirteen grandchildren: Zac (Shelby), Andrew, Emily, Kitty , Aaron, Stephanie, Hannah, David, Cameron, Carter and Cooper White, William and Helen Katherine Schanbacher, and one great grandchild Joseph Bryant.
Mr. White served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War on the U.S.S. Salem. He worked for thirty two years at Alabama Paper and Metal Ware and is recently retired from Sunbelt Paper and Packaging. He was a member of The Zamora Shrine and the U.S. Jaycees. He has been a member of Bluff Park United Methodist Church and the Fisherman's class since 1973.
The family will receive friends on Wednesday, July 1, 2015 from 1 to 2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral service will follow at 2 PM in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Reid Crotty officiating. Burial will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. Donations in memory of Joe White may be made to the Building Fund at Bluff Park United Methodist Church, 733 Valley Street, Hoover, AL 35226.
