Belva Wolbach

Belva D. Steed Wolbach passed away on Wednesday, January 21, 2015. She was a native of Lawrenceburg, TN, and spent her entire adult life as a resident of Birmingham, AL.
She is preceded in death by her husband Frank Ingram Steed, her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Thomas L. Dunkin, her brother Thomas L. Dunkin, Jr., and her sisters, Mary Krieger and Dorothy Wilson. Belva is survived by her husband of nine years, Hubert E. Wolbach, her brother, Bill Dunkin, Destin, Florida and her loving children: F. Wade Steed (Lisa), Dale P. Steed (Beth) and Lee D. Steed, all of Birmingham, Alabama. She has nine grandchildren: Lauren Steed Townsend (Clint), Wade Ashton Steed, Lawson Ingram Steed, Rachel Ellyn Steed, Sidney Lee Steed, Sammey Ann Steed, Perry Elizabeth Steed, Ella Monroe Steed and William Patrick Steed, She also has three great-grandchildren, Dunkin Edward Townsend, Sarah Ellyn Townsend and Noble Grace Townsend. Belva dedicated herself to her family with gracious love and kindness. She was a devoted Christian who loved the Lord and her church and its membership. She was a long time member of Shades Mountain Baptist Church and participated there in various roles and leadership positions teaching and mentoring youth and others. She later had the opportunity to attend Riverchase Methodist Church where she was welcomed and loved by its ministers and members in a very special way. Belva was an active member of the local business community at Steed’s Jewelers, Inc. There she was provided the opportunity to meet and befriend so many dear and wonderful people and contribute to and celebrate with them so many of their happy and wonderful occasions. Belva will be remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandparent and friend and a willing and dedicated servant of Christ who brought smiles, happiness and laughter to so many people. A visitation will be held at Shades Mountain Baptist Church in Birmingham, AL on Saturday, January 24, 2015, 1:00-3:00 p.m. A Memorial Service will be held at Shades Mountain Baptist Church immediately after visitation. Family members, Joe Valenti and Kim Glass, grandsons, Wade Ashton Steed and Lawson Ingram Steed and friends, Steve Philen and Brian Philen will serve as pallbearers. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Memorial Gardens on Highway 150. Memorial gifts may be given to “Open Hands Overflowing Hearts,” for pediatric cancer research, http://openhandsoverflowinghearts.org.
