Barry Gallo

May 16, 1955 — January 6, 2025

On January 6, 2025 a family lost a wonderful man and heaven gained an angel. It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Barry Charles Gallo.

Barry was born in New Orleans on May 16, 1955. He grew up in Covington and attended St. Paul's high school . He went on to graduate from University of Southwestern Louisiana, where he majored in business. He settled in Birmingham, Alabama, where he spent the last 30+ years, working as an Administrative Director of an Orthopedic Surgeons group.

Barry is preceded in death by his mother, Norma Jean Gallo. His father, Louis James Gallo and his sister, Cindy Gallo Price. He is survived by his son , Thomas Gallo (Lauren) and his daughter, Leigh Gallo Hunt (Guy) and their two daughters. He is also survived by his sisters, Debbie Gallo Berris (Craig), Karen Gallo and Diane Gallo Frosch (Gerard). He was greatly loved by many nieces and nephews!

Barry was an avid hunter and fisherman. You would often find him at his lake house or hunting property, which were his "happy places". He spent most of his free time there, hunting with his son or buddy and fishing on the lake. He loved watching his LSU tigers , working on his properties and traveling the world. Barry had many friends far and wide. He was an honorable man, a kind man and a simple man, who lived life on his own terms. He always had a smile on his face and a willingness to help others.

Barry will be sorely missed by his family and friends! He was a wonderful father, an incredible brother, a great friend and a true gentleman!

Plans for a " Celebration of Life "will follow.

The family has special gratitude to the medical staff and The Bone Marrow Transplant Team at UAB and ask that donations be made to the Bone Marrow Transplant program at UAB in lieu of flowers.
