Barbara Whitsett

Barbara Whitsett, age 83 went to be with the Lord on Monday, March 7, 2022 at her home in Hoover. Barbara was born October 3, 1938 in Georgia to the late Lula and Frank Smith. She was a graduate of Bessemer High School and from Bessemer Tech College then went on to work for the Phil Sarris Law Firm for more than 30 years as a Legal Secretary. Barbara was a long-time member of the Southcrest Baptist Church  in Hoover for 40 years where she served as a Sunday school class teacher but her proudest moments were raising and caring for her family.

Barbara is survived by her loving children, three daughters: Wanda Whitsett Reynolds of Lipscomb, Greta Whitsett of Houston, TX, Cheryl Boothe of Hoover and one son, William Whitsett of Hoover. A brother, Frank Smith of Montgomery, her sister-in-law, Aunt Nellie Whitsett Fox,  cherished grandchildren: Nathan and Timothy Boothe, Mitchell  Wilkinson, Teresa Cowley and Madison Jones; eleven great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren and one on the way.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter Whitsett her loved grandson, Michael Whitsett, her mother, Lula O’Berry Smith and her father, Frank Smith.  Barbara was a great Mother, Grandmother and a Godly person she is much loved.
