Barbara Sturgeon

Barbara Flinn Sturgeon, 93, of Birmingham, Alabama, died Monday September 23 at Kirkwood by the River. She was born in Independence, Missouri, and she grew up in Fort Smith, Arkansas. Barbara was a wonderful homemaker who also volunteered through her church, Independent Presbyterian Church, and with the UAB Hospital Auxiliary. Barbara served as president of the Auxiliary. She was passionate about her children, grandchildren, music, cooking, travel, reading, and knitting.

She is survived by her three children: Carol Moore (Jeff) of Six Mile, SC, Randy Sturgeon (Audrey) of Springfield, PA, and Richard Sturgeon (Jill) of Vestavia Hills, AL; her six grandchildren: Lindsey Moore, Charlie Moore, Elizabeth Sturgeon, Courtney Ross (Xavien), Ashley Sturgeon, and Connor Sturgeon.

A memorial service will be held Saturday September 28, 2024 at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home at 2 p.m. with a graveside service following.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Independent Presbyterian Church, the UAB Hospital Auxiliary, or the Alzheimer's Association
