Barbara Gail Holloway, of Hoover, AL, passed away December 6, 2013, on her 75th birthday. She was born in Birmingham, AL on December 6, 1938 and graduated from Shades Valley High School in June 1956. Also, she was a member of Shades Crest Baptist Church where she served as a Sunday school teacher for many years and volunteered with the Birmingham Baptist Association Literacy Program. She was president of Holloway Pharmaceuticals, Inc. and the bookkeeper for Visiting Nurses Association in Homewood. She was very dedicated to serving others in her community. Her favorite past time was hosting and playing Bridge with her friends. She was a devoted wife, mother and friend.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Jack Holloway, Sr., and son, Ken Holloway, Jr.
She is survived by two daughters; Allison Holloway and Diana Holloway Richmond, a sister, Norma Jean Howard, three grandchildren; Jonathan Teal, Spencer Demarest, and James Richmond, and two nephews; Michael Lowery and Jason Lowery.
The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 11, 2013, from 12:30 – 2 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 2 PM with Rev. Tommy Haralson officiating. Interment will be in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
In lieu of flowers, the family will request donations be made to the Birmingham Baptist Association Literacy Program.
