of Birmingham, passed away on Saturday, September 30, 2006, at the age of 69. He was a decendant of the Bragan family who were early pioneers of Birmingham and was proud to be related to the famous Bragan baseball family. Asher attended Birmingham Southern College and Auburn University where he was a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon. He served his country in the U.S. Army 82nd Airborne Division based at Ft. Bragg, NC, and he did a tour of duty in Korea. Asher was Sales Manager at Gerdau Ameristeel. He lived in Pompano Beach and Jacksonville, FL, as well as in Gastonia, NC before moving back to Birmingham in 1979. He was a loving son, husband, father, grandfather and brother. Asher was preceded in death by his parents, Asher Senor Bragan, Jr. and Elizabeth Stockard Bragan, and a brother, William Stockard Bragan. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sandra Thornton Bragan; 4 daughters, Pari (Vic) Pocopanni, Leslie (Mark) Ingle, Teresa (Tim) Ingle and Ashley (Terrill) Brazelton; 7 grandchildren, Bragan Ingle, Blake Pocopanni, Loren Ingle, Bailey Ingle, Isabella Ingle, Carter Brazelton and Marleigh Ingle; a brother, Victor Bragan; 2 sisters, Sally Bragan and Lisa (David) Gray of Columbia, SC; and a number of nieces, nephews as well as brother-in-law, Dr. John B. Thornton. The family will receive friends on Monday, October 2, 2006, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home, Hwy. 150, Hoover. Funeral services will be on Tuesday, October 3, 2006, at 1:00 p.m. in the funeral home chapel with Father John Fallon and Father Desmond Reagan officiating.
