Mike Cecil, age 92 of Hoover, Alabama passed away on March 19, 2024. He was preceded in death by his parents Bascom and Versa Cecil, his first wife Ada Cecil, his brothers Ed and Del Cecil, his sister Charlene Richards, his daughter Bonnie Clark, and his grandson JJ Davis. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Jo Cecil, his daughter Sharon Davis (Joe), his sons Daniel Phifer and Trent Phifer (Amy), his grandchildren David Clark, Michael Davis, Jessica Johnson (Jeremy), Hayden Phifer, Carson Phifer, Madelyn Phifer, his great-grandchildren Michael Davis, Jr., Jace Johnson, and Jett Johnson.
Mike was born in a small mining camp in Kevir, Kentucky on November 7, 1931. He was in the army during the Korean war. After retiring from the army, he worked as an iron worker and was slated to receive his 70-year pin as a member of the local 92 ironworkers' union later this month. He finished his working career as a security officer at St. Vincent's hospital with 15 years of service there.
Mike was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Bluff Park and was an active member of Green Valley Church in Hoover. He lived a life marked by faith, service, and commitment to family. Mike passed away peacefully in the presence of family after complications from his Parkinson's disease.
