Mr. Arthur Calvin Ray, arrived in Heaven April 23, 2011. He was born in Raytown, AL (near Chelsea, AL), March 17, 1928. He was predeceased by his wife of 45 years, Louise Hyden Ray; his parents, Henry Clyde and Elva Lena Kenderick Ray; and his older brother, Raymond Ray. He is survived by his wife, Juanita Parker Ray; three children, Nancy Mills LeBlanc (Adrian), Elva Louise Payne Jenkins (Mike) of Chipley, FL, and Arthur Calvin Ray, Jr. (April) of Quinton, AL; his brother, O.C. Ray of Pelham, AL; two stepsons, Michael Parker (Bobbie) and Donald Parker (Glenda); twenty-two grand and step grandchildren; and seventeen great and step great grandchildren. He was greatly loved and will be missed by all. He retired as supervisor after 42 years at Millbrook Bakery. He was Scoutmaster of Troop 236 sponsored by South Park Church of God. He served as a district Scout Counselor for many years. He was a gentle, loving man who loved gardening, especially tomatoes and peppers. He gave all his produce to family and friends. He was a member of Parkwood Church of God at the time of his death. He loved his Lord and Savior with all his heart. He never missed an opportunity to be uplifting to those around him. The family will receive friends from 11-1 PM, Thursday, April 28, 2011, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home Hwy 150 in Hoover. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 in the funeral home chapel. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
