Mr. Arthur Jerome Klopack, 95, of Homewood passed away on July 23, 2019. Art was born in Pennsylvania on August 13, 1923 and moved to Long Beach, CA. At 19 years old, he joined the Army and spent three years as a Paratrooper in WWII in the Pacific. After he returning to CA from the military, he attended cosmetology school and worked there until a friend asked him to move to Florence, AL and help him with a Beauty Salon he had purchased. Art moved to Florence and that is where he met the love of his life, Bea. They were married and had three children. He moved to Birmingham and worked as a hairdresser in Vestavia and Hoover with a career spanning over 50 years. His hobbies include spending time at the beach and painting landscapes. Art was a member of Lakeshore Foundation for 13 years with his wife Bea.
He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Beatrice Burgess Klopack; son, Timothy Klopack; and parents, Thomas Klopack and Agnes Yarkosky Klopack.
He is survived by his son, Brian Klopack (Linda); daughter, Rose Mary Wyatt (Danny); grandchildren, Mary Elizabeth Doty (Walt), McDaniel Wyatt (Kelsey), Matthew Wyatt (Jenny), James Klopack, Eric Klopack, and Anna Klopack; and great-grandchildren, Hadley Wyatt, Ries Doty, Mary Evelyn Doty, and Hayden Jerome Wyatt.
A visitation will be held on Friday, July 26, 2019 from 10:00am to 11:00am at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church with the Funeral Mass beginning at 11:00am. Interment with military honors will be held at 2:00pm at Jefferson Memorial Gardens South.
