Anthony Joseph "Bubba" Cashia passed away on Thursday, December 12, 2024, in Birmingham, Alabama, at the age of 76 following a brief illness. He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend whose warmth, generosity, and love for life touched all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank A. Cashia and Marion Cantavespre Cashia. He is survived by his devoted wife, Alethea Cashia, with whom he shared many cherished years of marriage. He was a loving father to his children: Bryant Cashia (wife Bailey Cashia, and grandson Benjamin Cashia), Jordan Milazzo (husband Alex Milazzo, grandson Easton Milazzo and soon to arrive Jack Milazzo), and Connor Cowie. His legacy will live on through his children and grandchildren, whom he adored.
He also was a much-loved brother to JoAnn Cashia Zito (husband Tommy Zito) and Joseph Cashia (wife Angela Humphreys). Anthony shared a deep bond with his siblings, and his presence will be greatly missed by all.
Throughout his life, Anthony was known for his infectious smile, unwavering kindness, and ability to bring joy to any room. His love for his family and friends was boundless, and he was always ready with a helping hand or a word of encouragement. Anthony's larger-than-life personality and sense of humor left an indelible mark on everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He was a passionate outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting and golfing. He also was an avid Alabama Crimson Tide football fan.
A funeral mass to celebrate his life will be held on Monday, December 16, 2024, at Prince of Peace Catholic Church in Hoover, Alabama, at 11:00 AM, with Father John Fallon officiating. The family will receive friends at the church prior to mass beginning at 10:00 AM. Family and friends are invited to join in honoring Anthony's memory and reflecting on the many beautiful moments he shared with them. Interment will be held at Alabama National Cemetery in Montevallo, Alabama at 2:45 PM.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Anthony's memory to the American Cancer Society (www.cancer.org) or PanCAN (www.pancan.org).
Anthony's love, laughter, and spirit will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. He will be deeply missed but never forgotten.
