Anna Morrison

Anna M. Morrison of Birmingham, AL passed away on Monday, July 29, 2019 at the age of 81. Anna grew up in Maumee, OH and moved to Huntsville, AL in 1958. She raised her four children in northwest Huntsville before moving to the Birmingham area. Mrs. Morrison was a member of the Business and Professional Women’s Club, active with the Salvation Army, and volunteered with Project Concern and the Huntsville Botanical Gardens. She was a HAM radio operator, a graduate of Birmingham-Southern College, and an active member of Philanthropic Educational Organization (PEO) chapters in Huntsville and Birmingham. Anna was passionate about education, playing bridge, and loved spending time with her family, especially at the beach or in the mountains. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Morrison, a brother Gerald Mechel, and a granddaughter Elsa June Gibbs.
She is survived her 4 children, Dee Elling, Donna Elling, Richard Elling, Lisa (Elling) Gibbs; 2 brothers, Jack Mechel and Joe Mechel; 2 sisters, Rose (Mechel) Rubin and Mary Mechel; and 4 grandchildren Baylen, Brittany, Elliot, and William.
A private memorial celebration will take place among family members. In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations to the PEO Foundation and the Salvation Army Birmingham Area Command.
