Ann Sommer

Mrs. Ann Richards Sommer,of Mountain Brook, AL, died on August 12, 2010, at the age of 84. The daughter of William M. and Annie B. Richards, she was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lucia Mary Richards, Mildred R. Bronecke, and Julia R. Barry. Born in Birmingham, AL, she attended West End and Woodlawn High Schools and was graduated from Huntingdon College with a degree in history. Throughout her life she remained interested in English and American History and also enjoyed researching family history. After many years at Woodlawn Methodist Church, she transferred to Canterbury United Methodist Church and was a member there at the time of her death. She was a life member of Just-A-Mere Garden Club and loved her garden club friends. She is survived by her beloved husband of 58 years, Earl L. Sommer, and one son, William E. Sommer, and six nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 PM, Sunday, August 15, 2010, at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy 150 in Hoover. Graveside services will be at 11 AM, Monday, August 16, 2010 at Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South.
