Mr. Ali Allen Tajmir, of Birmingham, AL, a civil engineer and small business owner, died Sunday, with his family by his side after a courageous 26 month battle with multiple myeloma. He was born August 23, 1952 in Esfahan, Iran to Hossein Tajmir and Rabobeh Karbasi and immigrated to the United States in 1973 to pursue his education. He attended Gadsden State where he completed his language proficiency and transferred to George Washington University, Washington, DC where he majored in civil engineering. He was honored to work several years in the commercial and defense industries at the PA Department of Transportation, the Maryland Highway Administration, Florida Power & Light, the Dundalk Marine Terminal in Baltimore, MD, and Fort McHenry Tunnel in Baltimore, MD, the Baltimore Aquarium at Harbor Place, Baltimore, MD, and Kings Bay Nuclear Submarine Base, Kings Bay, GA, prior to opening a residential construction company which built custom homes in Amelia Island, FL, and Birmingham, AL. On November 23, 1985, he married Harriett Holmes in Fernandina Beach, FL with whom he recently celebrated 27 years of marriage. He is survived by a daughter, Layla Tajmir of Birmingham, AL; two sons, Shahein Tajmir of Boston, MA, and Bijan Tajmir of Birmingham, AL; also surviving are his father, Hossein Tajmir of Esfahan, Iran; brothers, Hassan and Mohsen Tajmir of Esfahan, Iran, and Mehdi Tajmir of Denver, CO; sisters, Tahereh and Fatemeh Tajmir of Esfahan, Iran, and Zohreh Tajmir of San Diego, CA; mother-in-law, Priscilla Holmes of Fredericktown, PA; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his dear mother, Rabobeh Karbasi, and father-in-law, Williams Holmes of Washington, PA. The family will receive friends Wednesday, December 12, 2012, from 6-8 PM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 13, 2012, at 11 AM at the funeral home with Chaplain Herbert Robertson officiating. Interment will follow in Jefferson Memorial Gardens, South. The family wishes to thank his Oncologist and good friend Luigi Bertoli, MD, who stood by him from diagnosis until death. They also wish to thank Debbie and Susan at Brookwood Cancer Center for their compassionate care and kindness during his treatments.
