Mrs. Adelia Thompson Rockett, age 69, of Calera, went to be with the Lord on June 10, 2012. She was a breast cancer survivor and bravely fought lung cancer for four years. She was preceded in death by her husband of 45 years, James Bruce Rockett. She is survived by two sons, David (Angela) of Alabaster, and Craig of Birmingham; three grandchildren, Chandler, Julianne and Carson; a brother, David Thompson of Dallas, TX; two sisters, Bonnie Evans of Alabaster and Janet Thompson of Grant; and The Old Hags. She was a loving mother, sister, grandmother and friend. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Dee attended Holman Elementary School and was a graduate of both Woodlawn High School and The Birmingham Baptist Hospital School of Nursing. She was a long time employee of Norwood Clinic. She also worked in the fields of home health care and hospice. She was an active member of First Baptist Church of Alabaster where she served in the ESL program. Visitation will be Thursday, June 14 from 5:00 to 8:00 PM. Funeral service will be Friday, June 15 at 10:00 AM at Currie-Jefferson Funeral Home on Hwy. 150 in Hoover.
